ALWZ SNNY has allowed us, the fans, to learn more about him and his creative process through this artist bio interview.

-What inspired you to choose your artist name?

“ALWZ SNNY is just a mindset. It is always looking at things and being appreciative with what you have and not worrying about what you don’t. It’s a glass half full mentality. That is my outlook on life. Things can always be worse. Just be happy, spread good energy, and that is the same energy that will be reciprocated back to you. Just having that ALWZ SNNY mindset is what I’ve always had and believed in.”

- What do you want to be known for in your music career?

“Having fun, making people happy, and making people smile. Good energy. Good times.”

- What first got you into music?

“Something I’ve always been into. Went to school for it. I’ve been in and out of studios for as long as I can remember. That is what made me want to do music because I’ve always been around it. It is something that you can create. If you want to watch a movie, you can’t always be an actor, but if you want to create a song, it is something anyone can do.”

- Who inspired you to make music?

“I would have to say my biggest inspirations are Avicii, Marshmello, Martin Garrix, and W&W”.

- How would you describe the music that you typically create?

“HAPPY! Just music to make people smile. I don’t make too many sad songs. I always make music that when you hear it, it will put you in a happy place.”

- What is your creative process like?

“It’s a couple different ways: usually I start creating a melody before anything else. Some people like getting vocals first and then build around the vocal. I’ve never done that. I’ve always done it the opposite way. I always create the melody first and then from melody to chords. And then from there, I start arranging drums. That is the format I use.”

- Who would you most like to collaborate with?

“There is this DJ duo who I’ve been listening to a lot. Their name is Axmo. A lot of people don’t know who they are yet, but they make great main-stage music. They are assigned to W&W’s record label, Rave Culture. They put a lot of releases under them. They are a German duo I would love to collaborate with!”

- If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?

“I would say Martin Garrix.”

- What is one message you would give to your fans?

“If they are an artist or creator, the one thing I would tell them to make sure everything they do is fun. That is super important. If they are not a music creator, to make sure you operate from a happy place in life. With anything you do in life, always think about your journey. Is it going to make you happy rather than it being result oriented."

- Tell me about your song “Back Again”? What inspired you to write it?

“That song was actually inspired by The Chainsmokers’ song ‘Closer’. I really liked the back and forth and just what the artists were saying. I wanted to make a song that had the same colors and same energy. I personally did not write that particular song’s lyrics. Brandon Chase wrote the song, but I wrote the chorus.”

- Tell me about your experience at Tomorrowland.

“I went in 2019. It changed my life!”

- What would you be doing now, if it weren’t for your music career?

“I could always see myself running a studio. Running some sort of creative studio, not necessarily a music studio.”

- Where have you performed?

“I’ve done a number of colleges. I’ve played at Sound Check, Dewey Beach, Florida Tech, a couple different places in the Tampa area, and Arizona.”

- What are your favorite venues?

“I throw my own concert series every two to four months called ‘Sunny Nights’ here in Maryland. I bring all the artists that perform. I get to be a talent buyer of my own. We turned this venue called “The Original Cancun Cantina” into a straight rave for that night. I’ve done five of them so far! It's been a huge hit! It gives me an opportunity to network with new DJs. I book them, give them a platform where they can perform, and I can get to know them.”

- Least favorite venue?

“I don't remember the spot, but it was a hole in the wall spot. It was a small venue where people could literally touch my turntables. Wearing what I wear, I felt really uncomfortable. It got too hot too quick. It was a small venue in Baltimore.

- Do you have any upcoming shows?

“Upcoming is Moonrise, which is my first major festival. This is my first time breaking into the festival circuit. I have two other shows in South Carolina and another in Saint Louis at the end of August. I play out in Dewey Beach on Saturdays during the summer.”

- How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?

“So much! When I go to festivals people recognize me from social media. It's from the branding from social media. People that have not heard about me or my music, but have seen me through social media, they interact with me.”

- What is your favorite song to perform?

“Parachute’ is my favorite song. It is my first song I’ve ever put out and my biggest song. When people hear it they know it's my own song.”

- Which famous musicians do you admire?

“There is a lot! Famous producer would be Alan Walker. The cords he uses and piano pattern are so next level. He’s been doing it for so long. I really admire his work.”

- What is the best advice you’ve been given?

“Make sure everything you do is just in the moment. Learn from the past, but be in the moment and prepare for the future.”

- If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

“I wish there were more opportunities for unknown artists to perform for large audiences, however that could happen.”

- What’s next for you?

“I have a song coming out on July 29, 2022 which is a week before the Moonrise Festival. It's called ‘Aggressive Love’ with a friend of mine. His name is Marquette King. And the Moonrise Festival is high on my list. I’ve been taking a lot of time preparing to make the most out of the experience.”

- Where can the fans find you or more information about you?

“All major platforms: Spotify, Apple Music, Instagram. I would personally say the the best experience would be my YouTube Channel. I enjoy making music videos and I direct and write them myself. YouTube would be the best place to learn more about ALWZ SNNY.
