Updated: Aug 6, 2021

San Diego can be an expensive city, but if you are like me, you know the best places to check out are free!

San Diego has over 70 miles of gorgeous beaches you must experience, such as Pacific, Mission, Coronado, or Imperial Beach.

But here are the top 5 must see free places to visit while you're in San Diego:

  1. La Jolla Cove. There you will experience stellar sunrises or sunsets. You will also see various wildlife, such as seals and dolphins.

2. Balboa Park. Stroll through the marvel of Spanish Colonial Revival architecture. Select museums offer free entrance to San Diego residents on Tuesdays. There are free daily park tours, street performers, public organ concerts on Sundays, as well as gorgeous gardens throughout the park.

3. Chicano Park. With over 80 murals, Chicano Park is home to the largest collection of outdoor Chicano murals. It is also a National Landmark.

4. Sunset Cliffs Natural Park. Here you will experience stunning sunsets and a spectacular view of the cliffside coastline of San Diego.

5. Old Town. Witness the living legacy of San Diego history. Here guests are invited to check out freely through Old Town's historic buildings, such as the blacksmith shop, Seeley Stables, Stewart House, Estudillo House and the oldest schoolhouse in San Diego.
